On February 11, the dead body of a village volunteer identified as Ningthoujam Manisana (32) was recovered in Molamkarong Village in Imphal East District of Manipur, reports Northeast Now and The Sangai Express. The deceased person went missing since February 8after Kuki militants launched an attack at Itham Moirang-purel and his partly decomposed body riddled with bullet wounds was discovered at the mentioned location.
On February 10, Assam Rifles in a joint operation with Manipur Police recovered a huge cache of arms at Pechi in Thoubal District of Manipur, reports Northeast Now. During the operation, five mortar shell, five Highly Explosive (HE)-36 hand grenade, one tear smoke grenade, one tear smoke shell, two tear smoke shell Soft Nose (SR), one 38 mm cartridge with rubber, one country made mortar shell, one 9mm Colt Machine Gun (CMG) with two magazine, one 7.65 mm pistol browning’s patent with one magazine, one Revolver (Country Made), one air gun and one Homogeneous Time Resolved Fluorescence (HTRF) walkie talkie were recovered.
On February 10, one tear gas gun, two country-made 9mm pistol along with magazine, six Single Barrel Breech Loading (SBBL) guns, four Improvised Mortar (Pumpi Gun) were recovered from fringe and vulnerable areas of Churachandpur District of Manipur, reports Northeast Now.
