An FIR has been registered against unidentified people in Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh) who suspectedly circulated pamphlets of fatwa (religious opinion issued by an Islamic Scholar/mufti on the basis of a religious query/Istifta) issued by Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) ‘chief’ Hafiz Saeed, opindia.com reports on March 19. The FIR has been registered under section 505(1) (b) (with intent to cause fear) and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by the public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Kotwali Police Station in Aligarh District.
The Superintendent of Police (SP) said that this is an attempt to fume the community as the pamphlets were carrying objectionable content that may result in communal clashes. The probe into the matter is being done. The pamphlets have been found in large numbers and it reflects that it’s an attempt to disturb the peaceful environment. Police have stated that a large number of pamphlets have been found in a communally sensitive area.
