The court gave a five-day remand to Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) chief Maulana Saidur Rahman and his two accomplices after they were produced before it on completion of their six-day remand, reports Daily Star. The two others were Abdullahel Kafi and his wife Ayesha Akhter. The couple told an investigation officer (IO) that all their activities were running under the leadership of its chief Saidur before his arrest. Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Sheikh Mahbubur Rahman said this on June 1 while producing Saidur and his accomplices before the court with a nine-day remand prayer.

Police arrested two Jaamat-e-Islami (JeI) leaders on June 2 in connection with May 28 attack on Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abdus Samad and Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shajahanpur Police Station Anisur Rahman in Bogra District, reports Daily Star. Police said they picked up Abdus Sattar and Abdur Rahim Badshah on charge of hindering public service and attacking the UNO and OC. On May 28, the UNO imposed Section 144 banning a rally in Shajahanpur upazila, as local JeI leaders arranged it without permission of the authorities.

The meet is scheduled to take place at BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office in Dhaka, as part of her series of meetings with the like-minded parties and professionals ahead of the party's anti-Government move including hartal (strike). Shahed was a member of the JMB's first Majlish-e-Shura (highest decision-making body). “Shahed was appointed as one of the six shura members at a meeting in which executed JMB chief Shaekh Abdur Rahman was appointed as the amir (chief),” said DB Chief Rafiqul after primary interrogation. Other shura members were Nasrullah of Thakurgaon, Rakib Hossain Russell alias Hafez Mahmood of Jamalpur, Alamgir Hossain Rana, Salahuddin alias Salehin of Mymensingh and Khaled Saifullah.

Witnesses said over 100 ICS cadres equipped with firearms entered the campus at about 8:30pm and took out a procession demanding release of their seven leaders and activists who were arrested earlier in the day from exam hall of the Arabic department in connection with February 9 campus violence. Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men also took position in front of the hall gates with sharp weapons and firearms until midnight. Later, a case was filed on June 25 against 150 ICS leaders and workers of for their alleged involvement in creating anarchic situation at Rajshahi University, Rajshahi. However, none could be arrested in this connection.

The report adds that Kushtia District Police arrested 30 more JeI activists in the District raising the total to 34.
