Reports from Udayapur district stated that more than 150 teachers were abducted by Maoists from different schools at Beltar, Basaha, Rampur, Thoksilsa and Chaudandi villages on July 5. Further, 12 ward chairmen of the Pokhara Sub-metropolitan City have collectively resigned from their posts on July 6 citing the reason of resignation of the Surya Bahadur Thapa Government. However, media reports suspect that continuous Maoist threats were the reason. The Pokhara Mayor, Harka Bahadur Gurung, was earlier shot dead by the insurgents on July 2.

On the same day in Bara district, security forces claimed to seized a cache of arms and ammunition, including 20 pipe and pot bombs, six pressure cooker bombs, four single-bore guns and 15 kg gun powder from Sipalkavre and Selang Village Development Committees (VDC). Further, the Maoists have detonated a powerful bomb at the office of Royal Chitwan National Park in Nawalparasi district. However, no casualties were reported in the incident. Separately, in Tanahu district, Maoists set ablaze a mini bus belonging to a private company near Bhimad Bazaar on July 29.
