A lump sum assistance of Rs. 15 lakh per costal Police Station is also given for surveillance equipment, computer systems and furniture. The actual implementation will start from 1st April, 2011. The approved financial outlay of scheme is around Rs. 1,579 crore. After detailed consultations with nine coastal States, four Union Territories, Coast Guard and Indian Navy, the Coastal Security Scheme Phase-II has been finalised and approved. This scheme was discussed in the fourth meeting of the 'National Committee on Strengthening Maritime and Coastal Security against threats from the Sea' headed by Cabinet Secretary on November 23, 2010. All the senior officers of the State Governments were apprised of the scheme. There is institutional mechanism for coordination among different Central and States' security agencies. The implementation of the scheme will be done by the concerned coastal States and Union Territories. This was stated by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Shri Mullappally Ramachandran in written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today.
