Bomb Explosions in Assam, 2014
January 24: Two suspected Independent faction of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA-I) militants were killed in a blast at about 7 kilometre from Umrangshu area in Dima Hasao District when the bomb they were carrying in a vehicle exploded. The Police have identified them as Sahabuddin and Aminuddin February 15: Two unidentified men hurled a handmade bomb on Pritam Dabnath a shopkeeper, in Mahur market in Mahur area of Dima Hasao District. Pritam Dabnath sustained injuries in his left eye and ear due to the blast February 24: At least 13 people were injured when suspected NDFB-IKS militants triggered two blasts in Gasbari daily market near Baihata Chariali in Kamrup District May 6: A bomb blast took place in the house of Abdul Awal, a medicine trader at Katiar-Alga village under Fakirganj Police station in Dhubri District. No one was injured in the blast. A source in the village said unknown men had demanded INR 500,000 from Awal since April 15. June 18: NDFB-IKS lobbed hand grenades at the Kokrajhar Police Reserve located at Dimalgaon in Kokrajhar District. No casualty has been reported. July 6: Three people were injured in two separate grenade blasts in Bijni town of Chirang District. The first blast occurred at Koylamoyla bus stand in which three people were injured and the second blast occurred at No.2 Vetagaon area near Thuribari block BPF office in Bijni. The injured individuals have been identified as Polen Mondol, Sujay Namodas and Sujon Arya. Police suspect NDFB-IKS behind the attacks. July 21: A grenade was lobbed by unknown assailants at Bogidara Switch Gate area in Chirang District, there has been no report of injury. July 23: A man, identified as Mazibar Rahman was killed and four people were injured in an IED explosion near Krishnai Police Station in Goalpara District. The injured have been identified as Johirul Islam, Akhtar Hussain, Fozlu Ali and Kosumuddin Khan. The Police suspect Rajkhowa group of ULFA-I behind the attacks July 27: A low intensity explosion was reported from Srirampur in Kokrajhar District on July 27 reports The Sentinel. The bomb was planted in a Pulsar bike. However, no one was injured in the incident. August 1: Three ULFA-I died in an IED
explosion at Mongre Gaon under Agia Police Station at Goalpara District.
The incident took place when the militants took shelter at the house
of an individual identified as Malaijeet Rabha with an IED device,
when it suddenly exploded. Two ULFA-I militants have been identified
as Kanteswar Rabhaalies Parama Asom and Akon Rabha. The other cadre,
reportedly a linkman, is yet to be identified. Two pistols one grenade
and some documents were recovered by the Police. Spetember 19: Indian Army soldier, identified as Lance Nayak Prathampal Singh of 4th Rajput Regiment, was injured in an IED blast at Betbari in Shivsagar District. The IED was planted by ULFA-I. One Army vehicle was also damaged in the blast. October 24: Four persons including a tea garden official were injured and two vehicles damaged in a grenade blast by NDFB-IKS at Itakhola in Sonitpur. The injured have been identified as Bijay Singh, Diplonga tea garden assistant manager, Hamed Ali, Baharul Islam and Rajesh Gupta. October 26: An individual, identified as Ratul Das, was injured in a bomb explosion at Rajgarh-Zoo Road in Guwahati in Kamrup Metropolitan District, on October 26. The bomb was not an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) but a powerful fire cracker. Journalists who visited the blast site, however, noticed splinters and small metal balls used in IED. November 10: Bomb exploded at Silapur, in Tinsukia District. November 19: Suspected ULFA militants lobbed a grenade at the residence of a businessman, identified as Mahavir Agarwala, at Gurguri Line in Samdang of Tinsukia District November 23: two civilians were killed and 29 injured in grenade blast at Rajgarh in Dibrugar District. December 23: unidentified militants lobbed six grenades at three places in Kokrajhar According to sources, militants triggered two grenade blasts near Gossaigaon town Chariali and near a cinema hall in the heart of Gossaigaon town. Two more blasts took place near a petrol pump at Patgaon under Serfanguri Police Station in which three people were injured.
