The Taliban Ministry of Interior Affairs spokesman, Abdul Matin Qanay, confirmed that six people, including three Afghan nationals and three foreign nationals (Spanish), were killed in an attack by Islamic State – Khorasan Province (IS-KP) terrorists in Bamyan Province on May 17, reports Amu TV and The Guardian. Qanay further stated that three Afghan civilians and four foreign tourists were injured in the attack.
The National Resistance Front (NRF) announced on the social media platform ‘X’ (Twitter) that their forces killed four Taliban fighters and injured two others in an attack on a vehicle carrying Taliban fighters in Takhar Province on May 18, reports Afghanistan International. One Taliban vehicle and several firearms were destroyed in the attack, added the NRF.
The Taliban’s supreme court announced that two people were publicly flogged with 39 lashes each for adultery in Badakhshan province, reports Amu TV on May 19.
On May 19, Taliban Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Rosemary A. DiCarlo, the UN Deputy Secretary-General in Kabul to discuss the “agenda and composition” of the upcoming Doha meeting, reports Amu TV. According to the Taliban’s Foreign Ministry, DiCarlo mentioned that the third Doha meeting will address “financial and banking issues, drug control, and agricultural matters”. While the United Nations has not yet commented on the meeting, Taliban officials claim that DiCarlo stated the “main goal” of the third Doha meeting is to “normalize the international community’s relations” with Afghanistan.
Three operatives of Kuki Chin National Front (KCNF), identified as Edithang Bom, Rualsangnuam Bom and Rualminlian Bom were killed in a gunfight with the Army on the border of Rowangchhari and Ruma Upazila (Sub-District) in Bandarban District of Chittagong Division, reports Dhaka Tribune. During the operation, domestic weapons, cartridges, military uniforms, and other equipment were seized from the scene.
On May 18, an operative of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF), Bidyadhan Chakma alias Tilak, and a local villager, Dhanyamani Chakma, were shot dead by armed criminals in the Monpudi area in Langadu Sadar Union in Rangamati District Chittagong Division, reports The Daily Star. According to local union parishad member Prashit Chakma, the attackers surrounded a house where UPDF members were gathered for organizational work and opened fire, killing the two men on the spot. UPDF spokesperson Aongya Marma claimed that around seven to eight armed members of the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS) carried out the attack.
On May 19, the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) arrested four operatives of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), identified as Amir Hossain, Zaiur Rahman, Syedul Amin, and Mohammad Harun, along with several firearms and grenades after a gunfight near Camp 20 extension in the Ukhiya Upazila (Sub-District) in Cox's Bazar District of Chittagong Division, reports The Daily Star. Recoveries include four hand grenades, seven locally-made guns, nine bullets and sharp weapons.
Prakash Sai, a trooper of the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Odisha, suffered a bullet injury to his neck during an exchange of fire with the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres that broke out when they went for a search operation near Kamarbhaudi in the Gariabandh District of Chhattisgarh on May 20 (today), reports etvbharat.com. "The bullet has hit the right side of the jawan's neck. His condition is stable and he has been referred to Raipur after initial treatment," Dr. Harish Chauhan, senior doctor at the District Hospital, said.

On May 19, Manipur Police arrested one suspected cadre of United National Liberation Front -Pambei faction (UNLF-P) identified as Asem Nabachandra Meitei (41), in possession of one .32 pistol along with a magazine and nine live ammunitions, from Mayang Imphal Road in Imphal East District of Manipur, reports Northeast Now. He was involved in extortion cases.
On May 17, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police recovered a huge cache of arms, explosives, and war-like stores from an abandoned camp at Sangaikot village in Churachandpur District of Manipur, reports Northeast Now. The recovery includes one Self Loading Rifle (SLR) with magazine, four-barrel rifles, one point-22 pistol, two improvised heavy mortars and ammunition.
On May 19, Police detained three Over Ground Workers (OGWs), identified as Iftar Ahmed alias Kaka, Khurshid Ahmed, and Ghulam Abass under Public Safety Act (PSA) from an unspecified location of Poonch District in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), reports Daily Excelsior. Police stated that the three men were assessed to pose a significant threat to the safety and security of J&K.

The narcotics were wrapped with yellow adhesive tape, and a steel ring and a small torch were found attached to the packet.
Two soldiers were killed and three other personnel sustained injuries when the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) cadres launched grenades at the main camp of Security Forces (SFs) at the grade station in Tump tehsil(revenue unit) of Kech District in Balochistan on May 16, reports The Balochistan Post. Another group of BLA cadres targeted the main gate of the office of intelligence agencies adjacent to the grade station with grenades, causing further casualties and damage. Unidentified assailants attacked a construction company in Nalint area of Gwadar District of Balochistan, setting its machinery on fire on May 16, reports The Balochistan Post. The assailants set ablaze multiple vehicles, loaders, dumpers, and other equipment. Though no group claimed responsibility for the attack, the Baloch insurgent groups had done similar kind of attacks in the past.
The Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) cadres exploded a 36-inch gas pipeline from Sui (Balochistan) to Punjab near Karim Chowk in Rojhan area of Rajanpur District in Punjab on May 16, reports The Balochistan Post. In a separate statement, BRG ‘spokesperson’ Dostain Baloch claimed responsibility.
Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon on May 18 said that 76 suspects have been killed in Karachi encounters from January to May 15 of 2024, reports ARY News. Speaking to a delegation from the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) that called on him to discuss the law and order situation in Sindh, particularly in Karachi, the IGP said that 546 encounters were held in Karachi during the period. Ghulam Nabi Memon added that 76 suspects were gunned down by the Police in retaliatory actions. He said that 2249 suspects have also been nabbed from January 1 to May 15, 2024. The IGP said that 1480 Police encounters were held in different Districts of Sindh in which 146 suspects were killed while 7696 have been arrested. He said that the Police also conducted operations against Katcha area (riverine area) dacoits in Sukkur, Ghotki, Kashmore, and Shikarpur. Ghulam Nabi Memon said that the operations resulted in the killing of 70 dacoits and the arrest of 389 others. The IGP said that 17 Police personnel were martyred during these operations. IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon also briefed the delegation on the ‘decrease’ in street crime in Karachi, claiming a reduction of 160 daily reports of street crime in May compared to January 2024.
