The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said in a statement that the terrorists attempted to stop passenger vehicles travelling on Sanjavi Road in Harnai. SFs promptly responded and effectively engaged the terrorists. “The timely response by the security forces thwarted the nefarious intent of the terrorists, saving innocent lives,” ISPR said, adding that a sanitisation operation is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area.
The bus drivers and transporters in Panjgur District took to the streets in protest against what they describe as extortion practices by Security Forces (SFs), The Balochistan Post reported on April 27. The demonstrators have halted bus services, vowing not to resume operations until their demands are addressed. According to the protestors, SFs personnel manning checkpoints along various routes demand illicit payments from bus and truck operators to allow passage. The sessions court judge of South Waziristan District, Shakirullah Marwat, who was kidnapped by terrorists from the Garah Mohabaat Adda area under Hathla Police Station in Kulachi tehsil (revenue unit) of Dera Ismail Khan District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on April 27, was recovered on April 28, reports Dawn. Officials said the judge was intercepted by around 10 to 15 terrorists on motorcycles while travelling on the Dera Ismail Khan-Tank Road towards Dera Ismail Khan. However, the Dera Ismail Khan Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) said the abductee reached home safely after being recovered ‘unconditionally’.

A "most wanted" cadre of Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), identified as Mairaj alias Mama, was arrested by the Police from Lyari area of Karachi, the provincial capital of Sindh, on April 28, reports The News. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), South Zone, Asad Raza said Mairaj used to provide information to BLA ‘commander’ Jalal. According to the details provided by the DIG, Mairaj was involved in several terror activities including the 2017 attack on Security Forces in Balochistan. The arrested cadre spied on an Army vehicle which was travelling from Turbat to Gwadar after which the BLA cadres attacked and killed the Army soldiers.
The United States (US) State Department’s latest “2023 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices,” issued on April 22, indicates no significant improvement in Pakistan’s human rights situation over the past year, The Balochistan Post reported on April 27. The report accuses the Pakistan Government of engaging in intimidation and reprisals against individuals abroad, including civil society activists, human rights defenders, and journalists. According to the report, Pakistan is responsible for substantial human rights abuses, such as arbitrary and extrajudicial killings, torture, inhumane treatment, and life-threatening prison conditions. It further states that arbitrary arrests and political detentions continue to occur, with “a lack of accountability contributing to widespread impunity.” The report also highlighted allegations from the previous year where activists accused the Pakistani Government of conducting politically motivated killings and kidnappings in other countries. Additionally, it noted that successive Pakistani administrations have tacitly approved enforced disappearances. Citing figures from the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances, the report detailed that out of 9,967 missing-person cases reported since 2011, 7,714 have been resolved, leaving 2,253 still pending.
