SF sources said that the girls were taken into custody for questioning after a suspect, Ghulam Hassan Malik, who was arrested earlier had confessed to being an associate of the Saifullah alias Owais, a Pakistani mercenary of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT). The suspect further revealed that his daughter was operating Saifullah’s wireless set. Based on this, two daughters of Malik were arrested and one of them confessed to her involvement in aiding the LeT mercenary and also confessed that her friend too was aiding terrorists with a wireless set. Based on this, SFs arrested all the girls and after preliminary questioning, detained two. The others were released.

Ayubi is also reported to have confessed during interrogation that he was being assisted in his task by Mushtaq Wani, a top politician in Lolab, Srinagar. A Personal Security Officer (PSO) of Wani has reportedly been arrested, but his identity couldn’t be ascertained immediately. Ayub has also reportedly disclosed that the Al Qaeda had spread its network in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), New Delhi, Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh, besides to a couple of other Indian cities much before the United States declared a war on Taliban and Al Qaeda. According to news sources, Ayub was arrested from an official quarter in Poonch House, Panjtirthi on the basis of specific information about his infiltration into the City.
