The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested an injured terrorist, identified as Irshad, after an exchange of fire while he was travelling along with his family on Jabbar-Katlang Road in Mardan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on April 18, reports Dawn. During the exchange of fire between CTD personnel and Irshad, latter’s family members remained unhurt. A hand grenade, a 9mm pistol and ammunition were recovered from the possession of injured terrorist. The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on April 19 arrested Sindh Revolutionary Army (SRA) cadre, identified as Ubaidullah Langa, during an Intelligence based Operation (IBO) in Gulshan-e-Hadeed area of Karachi, the provincial capital of Sindh, reports ARY News. During initial investigation, Ubaidullah Langa confessed that he carried out a murder attempt on the owner of Gujjar dairy on the orders of ‘commander’ Inam Abbasi and Mashooq Kambrani. The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) on April 26 arrested two Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists, identified as Muhammad Kamal Khan and Abdul Qadir, from an undisclosed location of Karachi, the provincial capital of Sindh, reports Dawn. A spokesman for the SIU said that the arrested terrorists were involved in targeted killings and extortion. The terrorists confessed to their involvement in several crimes which they committed on the orders of TTP leadership in Afghanistan. The terrorists had demanded protection money from a trader in the Saddar area. They along with their other accomplices, murdered Qayyum Goshtwala in the Banaras area for non-payment of extortion, spokesman said, adding that cases pertaining to the both incidents were registered at the Preedy and Pirabad police stations, respectively. In 2022, the terrorists killed Saeed Ahmed, a citizen of Afghan origin, in the Gulshan-i-Maymar area on the suspicion of spying on TTP for a foreign intelligence agency. The TTP leadership in Afghanistan had paid them Rs2 million for the murder, spokesman added.

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on April 28, arrested four suspects accused of raising funds for banned organisations, identified as Rahimul Haq, Ghulam Muhammad Khan, Abdullah Farooq and Tanveer Nadeem Naveed from Karachi City in Sindh Province, reports The Express Tribune. During preliminary investigations, they confessed to fund raising for the banned organisations on the instructions of their central command. The Security Forces (SFs) arrested the founder of Baloch National Army (BNA) Gulzar Imam alias Shambay from an undisclosed location of Balochistan on April 7, reports Dawn. Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that he has been a hardcore militant as well as the founder and leader of the BNA which came into being after the amalgamation of the Baloch Republican Army (BRA) and United Baloch Army (UBA). "BNA had been responsible for dozens of violent terrorist attacks in Pakistan including attacks on law enforcement agencies (LEAs) installations in Panjgur and Nushki," the ISPR said. The statement mentioned that Gulzar Imam also remained as deputy to Brahamdagh Bugti in Baloch Republican Army (BRA) till 2018. He was also instrumental in the formation of Baloch Raji Aajoi Sangar (BRAS) and remained its operational head. "His visits to Afghanistan and India are also on the record; his linkages with hostile intelligence agencies (HIAs) are being investigated," statement stated.

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on April 8 arrested eight suspected terrorists from different areas of Punjab, reports Dawn. The CTD also recovered explosive material, hand grenades and banned literature from their possession. The arrested suspects were identified as Akhtar Nawaz, Muhammad Usman, Fawadullah, Faqeer Muhammad, Asif Nawaz, Ziaur Rehman, Attiq Ahmad and Bashir. A CTD spokesman said the suspects belonged to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Daesh. Two of them were arrested from Lahore, four from Gujranwala and one each from Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur.

A statement released by the Inter-services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the SFs conducted an IBO in Charmang on the "reported presence of terrorists". The CTD spokesman said that the arrested terrorists were associated with proscribed outfits. At least 55 IBOs were conducted in different Districts of the province to effectively deal with any untoward incident of terrorism, in which 56 suspected persons were interrogated and 11 alleged terrorists were arrested with weapons, explosives, and other prohibited materials. Among the arrested terrorists, three were cadres of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), namely Najibullah, Muhammad Tahir, and Abdul Sami, one was cadre of Tehreek Jafaria Muhammad Aftab, four cadres of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) namely Kaleemullah, Manzoor Khan, Niaz Muhammad and Muhammad Zubair, two cadres of Sipah Sahaba Pakistan (SSP), identified as Muhammad Hussain Muawiya and Muhammad Daniyal. The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) said on November 11 that it has arrested five suspected terrorists linked to banned outfits of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) during operations carried out in different cities of the province, reports Dawn. In a statement issued, the CTD said it conducted 179 intelligence-based operations in Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Bahawalpur, and Rawalpindi and foiled a major terror plot. It said 179 suspects were interrogated, and five alleged terrorists were arrested. According to the CTD, the five alleged terrorists belonged to the banned organisations TTP and LeJ. The statement further said that 565 grammes of explosives, two hand grenades, two improvised explosive devices, five detonators, 13 feet of safety fuse wire, 3.5 feet of primer cords, five pamphlets of banned organisations, 36 stickers, and Rs 5,520 were recovered from the possession of the suspected terrorists.

According to a Police spokesperson, the incident happened within the jurisdiction of the Golra Police Station when the team was conducting routine patrol. During the patrolling, when the patrolling team signalled a suspicious vehicle to stop, the vehicle's occupants, believed to be three armed individuals, opened fire on the Police personnel and fled the scene. No Police personnel were harmed in the incident. However, during the pursuit of the fleeing suspects, one of them sustained injuries from Police gunfire and was subsequently arrested. The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on October 24 arrested a Lashkar-i-Jhangvi (LeJ) militant, who was allegedly involved in several ‘high-profile killings’, from Patel Para area of Jamshed Town in Karachi, the provincial capital of Sindh, reports Dawn. In a statement, the CTD said “The CTD’s LeJ (Lashkar-i-Jhangvi) cell in-charge carried out an action in Patel Para and arrested Hafiz Qasim Rasheed alias Bilal and recovered [a] hand grenade and unlicensed 30-bore pistol along with six bullets from his custody.” It added that the suspect had allegedly orchestrated the killings of renowned Qawwal Amjad Sabri, who was gunned down in 2016 in Karachi, as well as the 2010 killing of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Raza Haider. Describing Rasheed as a “dangerous terrorist affiliated with banned LeJ”, the official said, “The suspect had run a network inside a jail when he was detained there.” The CTD alleged that he had also been involved in the killing of four Rangers personnel, two Army soldiers and four members of the Shia community from the jail with the help of his accomplices, namely Asim alias Capri and Ishaq alias Bobby. Rasheed had been arrested over charges of killing the MQM leader and other heinous crimes and was sent to prison, but was released recently.
