Chief operational ‘commander’ of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Saifullah aliasSaif-ul Islam Mir alias Dr Saif alias Ghazi Haider was killed in a gun battle on the outskirts of Srinagar in Srinagar District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on November 1, reports Daily Excelsior.The HM‘commander’,resident of Malangpora in Rangreth area of Srinagar, was given opportunity to surrender. However, he fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party, which was retaliated leading to an encounter in which he was killed.Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh, said, Saifullah was a top and longest surviving militant ‘commander’ in the Valley and he was involved in the killing of several innocent people, and further stated,“Dr Saifullah was also involved in the killing of various innocent people including three policemen, two truck drivers who were attacked after the abrogation of Article 370 in which a truck driver and a conductor were killed. He was also involved in the recent attack on a Sarpanch, who got injured in Kulgam district.”

A militant was arrested during an encounter with Security Forces (SFs) on the outskirts of Srinagar city in Rangreth near the old airfield in Srinagar District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on November 1, reports Daily Excelsior.Acting on specific information about the presence of militants in Rangreth near the old airfield here, the SFs launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the area, a Police official said.A militant was arrested from the spot after an exchange of fire. The identity of the arrested militant is yet to be ascertained.

A defence spokesman said, “At about 1730 hours [IST] today [November 2], Pak army initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling with mortars along LoC in Shahpur, Kirni and Qasba sectors in district Poonch.”The Indian Army mounted a befitting retaliation.

The unprovoked firing from the Pakistan side in Chandma, Faqeera, Londi, Satpal and Karol Krishna in Hiranagar sector started around 9:45 pm [IST] and the exchange of fire between the two sides continued till 4:25 am [IST], the officials said. Security Forces (SFs) launched a massive Cordon and Search Operation (CaSO) in Anantnag District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on November 3, reports Daily Excelsior. Official sources said, on a tip-off about the presence of militants, troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a joint CaSO in several villages in Verinag, Anantnag. However, no contact was established with the militants in the CaSO.

Official sources said, the force had detected a similar structure, that originated from the Pakistan side, in the same area in August. Two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were killed in an encounter,while a man who was injured in the initial firing succumbed to his injuries,in Meej area of Pampore in Pulwama District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on November 6, reports Daily Excelsior. Two civilians were injured, one of them critically, who succumbed to his injures, after militants attacked the search party of Security Forces (SFs) in Meej area of Pampore. He has been identified as Abid Ahmad Mir (22), resident of Meej Pampore.Inspector General of Police (IGP), Vijay Kumar, said, two Pakistani militants were killed in the encounter and another surrendered. He identified the killed militants as Umar Bhai and Huzaifa. He also said that two AK 47 rifles and two pistols were recovered from the encounter site. The surrendered militant has been identified as Khawar Sultan Bhat alias Jana of Drangbal Pampore, who was missing from last three months.

Two soldiers were killed in a militant attack at Army’s Road opening Party (ROP) near Shariefabad Army base in HMT area in the outskirts of Srinagar city in Srinagar District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on November 26, reports Daily Excelsior.Srinagar based Defence spokesman, Colonel Rajesh Kalia said that militants fired indiscriminately at the Army’s Quick Reaction Team (QRT) in general area of Aban Shah Chowk, HMT, Srinagar in the afternoon hours. Inspector General of Police (IGP), Vijay Kumar saying that three militants carried out the attack on Army men at HMT, said, “Initial reports said that three militants were travelling in a Maruti car and two of them were carrying weapons, who fired indiscriminately at the Army men leaving two of them seriously wounded, who later succumbed.” IGP Kumar said that Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants carried out the attack and Security Forces are chasing the Maruti car which was used for the attack. “There seems to be the involvement of one or two foreign militants. We will ascertain the outfit that carried out the attack,” he added.The Security Forces cordoned off the area on Parimpora-Soibugh and Shariefabad-HMT road and launched a search operation to track down the assailants.
