In Chittagong District, Enam Hossain (33) was killed when a truck on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway skidded off into a roadside ditch after blockaders exploded petrol bombs at it. Two other persons Hafez Hannan (35) and Suman Shil (32) were also injured in the incident. In Noakhali District, Jamir Uddin (32), a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver was killed after being hit by brickbats hurled allegedly by blockaders.

Seven people were killed and many others were injured during the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)-led 20-party alliance's countrywide nonstop blockade on January 14, reports The Daily Star. In Rangpur District, five people, including a child, were burnt to death and 15 others were injured as alleged blockaders hurled a petrol bomb at Mithapukur sub-District in Rangpur District. Earlier, it was reported that four people, including a child, were burnt to death and 10 others suffered injuries. In Chittagong District, Muhamad Jubayer (21), a cadre of Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS), the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), was crushed to death by a truck which they allegedly tried to torch on Chittagong-Cox's Bazar Highway in Lohagara. Two other ICS cadres were also injured. In Feni District, Belal Hossain (24), an activist of Jubo League, the youth wing of the ruling Awami League (AL) was beaten to death allegedly by pro-blockade pickets in Sonagazi. In Dhaka city, seven people, including a Police constable and two Ansar members, were injured in crude bomb attacks. In Chapainawabganj Dsitrict, two truck drivers were seriously injured when blockade supporters hurled bombs at their vehicles in Rasulpur area.

Three persons were killed and many others were injured during the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)-led 20-party alliance's countrywide blockade on February 4, reports The Daily Star. In Dhaka city, two youths were killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Jatrabari area. The identities of the youths, aged between 25 and 30, could not be confirmed. RAB officials said that when a team of RAB was patrolling in Jatrabari area all of a sudden, brick chunks were hurled at the RAB vehicle. Several crude bombs went off on the road and gun shots were fired at the team, forcing the law enforcers to open fire on the thugs. Later, RAB found two bullet-hit people lying in a pool of blood there. One gun, two petrol bombs and eight crude bombs were recovered from the spot. In another incident, Rashedul (25), who had suffered 80 percent burn injuries on February 3 gruesome firebomb attack on a bus in Comilla District died at the Intensive Care Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Separately, a suspected bomber, Kawsar Khan was injured when Police shot for blasting crude bombs at Amtoli in Shahjahanpur area. Police said they fired three shots at Kawsar when he was fleeing the area after exploding two crude bombs. Kawsar received bullets in his legs. In Gazipur District, pickets firebombed a passenger bus in Noujani area burning at least five including a child. The victims are Rakib (12), Mohammad Sabuj (20), Kamrul Hasan (28), Jahangir Hossain (42) and Mariam Akter Rupa (7). In Chittagong District, two rickshaw pullers were injured as suspected blockade supporters blasted crude bombs. In drives against the violence that has been plaguing the country for a month now, law enforcers arrested 34 people in Satkhira District and three Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) activists in Bogra District.

In Rajshahi District, Mohammad Selim (27), a truck helper, died at the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital a day after he had received the burn injuries. He suffered burns to 50 percent of his body when 10-12 blockaders intercepted the Shibganj-bound truck near Nimtala-Kanthal area, and hurled a petrol bomb at it. In Chittagong District, Ranjit Nath (30), a day labourer, succumbed to his burn injuries at Chittagong Medical College Hospital. He suffered 82 percent of his body burnt when blockaders hurled petrol bomb at the CNG-run auto-rickshaw he was travelling on March 4. In Joypurhat District, Ujjal (30), another victim of a petrol bomb attack died at Joypurhat Modern Hospital. He was going to Bogra from Joypurhat on the roof of a bus. When the bus reached Karimpur on Joypurhat-Bogra highway, some six people on two motorbikes exploded two crude bombs aiming at the bus. In Dhaka city, Suvash Shom (56), died at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). He suffered burns after alleged pickets firebombed the minibus he was travelling in at Tiger Pass of Chittagong city in the wee hours of February 19. Separately, Abdullah Al Mamun (20) was injured when Police shot him when he tried to hurl a crude bomb at a vehicle in Dhalpur. In Chittagong District, nine employees of an electronic showroom were injured when a group of miscreants went on a rampage by vandalizing an electronics good shop at Lalkhan Bazar area. In Dhaka city, four people were injured as miscreants set off three crude bombs in Nayapaltan area and one bomb near the Foreign Ministry office. Besides, law enforcers arrested 182 BNP-Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) activists on different charges. Six people were injured in a crude bomb blast in Boxirhat area. Constable Siddikur Rahman (40) was injured as a crude bomb exploded in front of Nilkhet Police camp. In Noakhali District, two passengers were injured when picketers vandalized nine CNG-run auto rickshaws on the Dhaka–Noakhali highway at Nadana. Police arrested 131 BNP-JeI activists for violence and sabotage. Of them, 49 were arrested in Rangpur, 22 in Khulna, 20 in Chapainawabganj, 16 in Dhaka, eight in Gaibandha, five each in Chittagong and Noakhali, four in Sirajgainj and two in Manikganj Districts.
