On January 9, three operatives of new militant outfit Jamatul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya, identified as Kabir Ahmad, Md Alam Prakash Alimya Dakat and Nurul Abshar, were arrested by Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, reports Dhaka Tribune. Kabir Ahmed was arrested from Naikhongchhari Sub-District of Bandarban District in Chittagong division of Bangladesh and the rest were arrested from Dhaka District in Bangladesh based on information given by an identified source Kabir Ahmad. Three locally made arms, six guns, 11 bullets, lead, acid, gun powder, octane and other chemicals were recovered from their possession.

On January 11, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested five operatives of Jama'atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya (JAFHS) during in Bandarban District in Chattogram Division, reports The Business Standard. The arrestees were identified as Nizamuddin Hiron alias Yusuf, Saleh Ahmed alias Saiha, Bayezid Islam alias Muas alias Bairu, Imran bin Rahman Shithil alias Billal and Sadiqur Rahman Sumon alias Farkun. On January 23, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two leaders of Jamatul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya (JAFHS), identified as identified as Mashikur Rahman alias Ranbir and Abul Bashar alias Alam, during the raid in Kutupalong Rohingya Camp No. 7 of Ukhiya Sub-district in Cox’s Bazar District, reports Bd news 24. RAB members recovered arms and ammunition from them. During preliminary interrogation, Abul Bashar admitted that he left the Chittagong Hill Tracts following the launch of the anti-militancy operations on October 3, 2022. Nine Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members sustained injury as 17 operatives of newly formed militant outfit Jama'atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya and three operatives of Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) were arrested following a daylong gunfight in Remacri bridge area of Thanchi Sub-District of Bandarban District on February 7, reports The Daily Star. Khandaker Al Moin, Director of the RAB’s legal and media wing, said they seized firearms and materials used in making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) following the operation. Three to four of the arrestees were seen in the video that was recovered from Masukur Rahman alias Ronobir, ‘military commander’ and shura member of Jama'atul Ansar, after his arrest on January 23 in Cox's Bazar District along with an associate. The eight-minute video shows militants being trained in modern fighting techniques, including operating assault rifles.

During the time of arrest, 4.9 kg of explosives, 15 pieces of cocktails, ID card-making equipment, 1.5 kg of mercury, a walkie-talkie, 53 circuits, 9 bundles of military uniforms, 70 t-shirts, 12 caps, 130 hand gloves, Tk 2,290 cash, two mobiles, and a laptop were recovered.
