Unidentified militants exploded a bomb at the residence of a contractor of Government’s Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) scheme, Sinam Dijen in Yaiskul Sougaijam Leirak Nambul Mapal under Imphal Police Station on January 27, reports The Sangai Express. However, no casualties were reported. According to the available information, the bomb is suspected to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).A head constable, identified as Thounaojam Herojit Singh, who had claimed to have killed Chungkham Sanjit, a former militant, in a controversial case on July 23, 2009 on the orders given by the then Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Imphal West, Akoijam Jhalajit Singh, disappeared after he boarded an Imphalbound flight at Delhi Airport on January 27, reports The Telegraph. His family members fear that he could have been abducted by unidentified suspects after landing at Imphal airport on the same day.

The Progressive faction of People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK-Pro) on March 10, claimed responsibility for yesterday's bomb blast in front of an automobile showroom in Imphal city, reports The Telegraph. Police said an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in front of the showroom owned by Punya Motors Private Ltd. One of the salesmen, who was inside, sustained minor splinter injuries on his face. In a statement today, the outfit said the bomb was exploded as the automobile company "challenged" the outfit. It did not elaborate. "Henceforth, Punya Motors Private Ltd will not be allowed to continue its business in Manipur," the statement said. The outfit also banned business by all the showrooms owned by Punya Motors Private Ltd under the name Punya Hyundai Showroom, Dingku road, Punya Honda, Airport road, Punya Honda Showroom, Khuyathong, M.I. Ford showroom, Airport road, all located in and around Imphal city and all the sub-dealers of Punya Company in Manipur.

Some unidentified assailants attacked Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS)Medical Superintendent Professor Dr Meisnam Amuba by hurling a hand grenade at his quarters located within RIMS campus, Lamphelpat under Lamphel Police Station in Imphal West District on April 1, reports E-Pao. The grenade exploded at a garage beside the entrance gate leading to Prof Amuba's quarters at around 7.15 pm. However, there is no report of any casualty. The blast damaged bumper of a car (Maruti SX 4) apart from puncturing front and rear wheels of the left side. One Honda Activa scooter and the GI sheet roof of the garage were also damaged. It is suspected that the bomb attack was carried out in connection with monetary demand.

Unidentified assailants allegedly lobbed a grenade at the Bhramapur Aribam Leikai residence of Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) chairperson Aribam Nimai Sharma in Imphal on April 4, reports Kanglaonline. Locals rounded up two persons suspected to be involved in the attack and badly thrashed them. The two are identified as RK Napoleon (36), of Sagolband Tera Amudon Akham Leikai and Angom Punil Kumar (39), of Porompat Thawanthaba Leikai. Another women accomplice managed to flee from the scene. The locals also recovered a gun licence and an ID card from one of the two. One Mahindra Bolero jeep reportedly driven by the duo was also vandalised by the mob. Porompat Police team took the two away along with the vehicle. In the meanwhile, the Royal Riders Manipur (RRM) while admitting that RK Napoleon is a member of the group informed that he has been expelled from the group for his alleged anti-social activity. Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club, RRM advisor Laishram Momocha said that what Napoleon did was done at his personal capacity and it has nothing to do with the group. RRM convened an emergency meeting and the meeting decided to expel Napoleon from the group, Momocha said. RRM has around 140 members and their primary agenda are protection of environment and extension of humanitarian service through adventure.

A bomb was exploded by unidentified assailants at the residence of Dr Amuba Singh, Medical Superintendent, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) at Thangmeiband Lairen Hanjaba Leikai under Imphal Police Station in Imphal West District on April 10, reports Kanglaonline. No one suffered injuries in the bomb attack. In the meanwhile, one person identified as Yengkhom Anandajit Singh (35) of Pallel Wangmataba, who was allegedly involved in the attack was thrashed by locals. One trooper of the 25th Assam Rifles (AR) was killed and three other personnel sustained injury in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion triggered by suspected militants near the AR transit camp Minuthong in Imphal West District on April 14, reports Kanglaonline. According to reports the blast took place around 7.10 pm while the AR personnel were on normal duties in front of the camp. The deceased AR personnel have been identified as Gukulchand Yadap (32), of Rajasthan. He was reportedly evacuated to RIMS and later referred to Shija where he succumbed to his injury. The injured personnel have been identified as Hemansu Devnath (31), of West Bengal (injured on right arm), Manikumar (28), of Bihar (injured at right arm) and K Rameswhar (32), of Ingourok near Nongpok Sekmai. In the meanwhile, denouncing the bomb blast, residents staged a sit-in-protest demonstration nearby the blast site on April 14. The protest demonstration was participated by Ragailong Pei, Youth Club, Women’s Society. Placards and banners which said, “Ragailong is not a battle field”, “We condemn the blast at public place”, “Enough is Enough” etc were displayed during the protest.

Unidentified assailants hurled the grenade. Sources said bombs have been regularly hurled at this medical college under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, as insurgent groups accuse hospital officials of indulging in corruption and malpractice. One person was killed and two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers were injured in three blasts triggered by unidentified militant outfits in Imphal West District on November 20, reports Business Standard. Binod Roy was killed in an explosion of an Improvised Explosive Device(IED) at Singjamei Chingamathak area in Imphal West District, near an Assam Rifles (AR) camp, in the morning, Police officials said. The deceased, stated to be a non-Manipuri, was en route to his iron and cement store when he fell victim to the explosion nearby, the officer said. Another explosion took place around 5 pm at BT Road near M-sector, a few meters away from the camp of the AR. The spokesman of the AR said no jawan was injured in the blast. About 10 minutes later, another blast occurred within the All India Radio (AIR) complex injuring two CRPF jawan, Police officials said.
