Maoist Communist Party-Manipur (MCP-M) has called for a State wide general strike in Manipur on April 29 as part of boycott to the visit of President Pranab Mukherjee who is to visit Imphal on April 29 to attend the 14th convocation of Manipur University, reports Nagaland post. A statement of the MCP-M signed by its ‘publicity and propaganda secretary’ Nonglen Meitei dispatched to the local media, on April 22, said that the main objective of proposed general strike was to highlight the suffering of the people of the State after the State merged with the Indian union, the statement added. Also, the Corcom, Coordination Committee of six militant groups, payed homage to the heroes of the Khongjom War on the occasion of the Khongjom War anniversary on April 23, reports the sangai express. Recalling the bold stance taken by the heroes of Khongjom War, it’s time for the present generation to fight against India’s ‘federal colonialism’ which is contriving to gobble up all the communities of Western South East Asia (WESEA) in the name of federalism, Corcom asserted.
