Four cadres of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) and one each of the People's United Liberation Front (PULF) and PLA surrendered along with five pistols, one carbine and two grenades to the BSF inspector general (frontier headquarters) Manohar Lal Batham, a BSF official said.

Four militants of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) have reportedly surrendered to Police. The surrendered militants were identified as ‘Corporal’ RK Ibungo alias Bishorjit (23), ‘Lance Corporal’ Ningthoujam Thoiba alias Gopen (25), Lance Corporal’, Akoijam Jiten alias Ningjaba (27) and ‘Sergeant’ Akoijam Basanta alias Fighter (38). According to a source, the four KYKL cadres are being housed at Moreh after they crossed into India (Manipur) from Myanmar a few days back under an arrangement made by Imphal East District Police.

Three cadres of Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) surrendered to the 5th Assam Rifles (AR) with arms after a brief encounter at Dailong village in Tamenglong District on March 26, reports Nagaland Post. The three surrendered cadres were identified as ‘sergeant major’ Champulong Gangmei RK (22) son of Jungamang Gangmei, ‘sergeant major’ Kaumei Kamei (23) son of Cahdaidi Kamei and ‘finance in-charge’ of ZUF ‘sergeant major ‘Chingkhuirei (20) son of Phungkelong. seven cadres of Nongrenkhomba group of Kangleipak Communist Party-Military Council (KCP-MC), including their ‘Army Chief’, Laishram Guru alias Gunamani, have laid down arms to join the peace parleys with the Central and State Governments. It was announced by the General Secretary of KCP-Lamphel, Taibang Nganba alias Dilip at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club on April 24. Along with ammunition, the cadres surrendered two AK rifles, one carbine and four pistols, Dilip added. Saying that KCP-Taibang Nganba and KCP-City Meitei are currently on peace talks with the Government, KCP-Pakhanglakpa is also ready to commence peace parleys.

The Sangai Express reports that a lady cadre of Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) outfit, identified as Tombi alias Sandhy Rani of Phougakchou in Bishnupur District, reportedly surrendered to Security Forces of Red Shield Division along with a .22 revolver and five rounds on June 1. According to a Press Information Bureau-Defence Wing (PIB-DW) release, Tombi joined the KCP in 2005 and was trained at Tamu Camp in Myanmar. The release further claimed that a Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) cadre, identified as Rakesh alias Wani of Uripok Sorbon Thingel in Imphal West District, surrendered to Red Shield Division forces on June 1. He also deposited one .9mm pistol along with magazine and two live rounds. The release quoted the individual as saying that he now desires to lead a peaceful life with his family and thus laid down arms.

According to a Press Information Bureau-Defence Wing (PIB-DW) release, K Rajanglung had joined NSCN-K on February 16, 1997, and went through rigorous ‘military’ training for three months in eastern area of Myanmar near Mon District in Nagaland. On June 24, 2013, he reported at Nonei Battalion of Red Shield Division to surrender as he feared for his life from NSCN-K after the operation of Security Forces in Shonglung in Senapati District where six cadres of NSCN-K were killed.

The other surrendered cadres were identified as ‘sergeant’ Hemlun alias Daltan (27), ‘private’ Lelen alias David (21), ‘private’ Khanglhi alias Tiger (20), ‘private’ Ngangam alias Govind (20), ‘private’ Francis Kuki (18), ‘private’ Haokhulun alias Lunneo (18) , ‘private’ John Kuki (18), ‘ private’ Romeo alias Thangboi (21), ‘private’ Franky Kuki (19), ‘private’ Mamang Mate (17), ‘private’ Sangboi (23), ‘private’ Thangneo alias Touthang (22) and ‘private’ Neosen Baite (23). The Sangai Express reports that altogether 45 cadres of United Tribal Liberation Army (UTLA), including its ‘Chairman’, SK Thadou, surrendered during a simple ‘Home Coming ceremony’ held on July 17 at Inspection Bungalow in Kadamtala in Jiribam in Imphal East District before the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Joint Secretary (North East) Shambu Singh. They are the last cadres of the UTLA-SK Thadou to surrender before the Government. The surrendered cadres dep[osited 42 arms that included nine 9mm pistols; two .32 pistols, six 9mm carbine, one UZI (9mm), two shot guns, six Rifle Bolt Action, three AK-47 rifles, one AK-56 rifle, two M-16 rifles, one 40mm lathod and nine country made guns while the ammunitions deposited included six rounds of 9mm pistol, 41 rounds of AK-47 rifle, 15 rounds of M-16, six long cases of .38, 19 rounds of 7.62mm and two lethod bombs. With this, all the sub-factions of UTLA have now joined the peace process which will bring about peace and developments in the general area of Vangai Ridge, Jiribam and adjoining areas, the report said. Shambu Singh later described the ceremony as another big step towards peace initiative and appealed to all the underground groups to abjure the path of violence and join the mainstream. SK Thadou said that they have laid down arms as they desired peace.

12 cadres of six militant outfits surrendered to the Government along with arms at a ceremony held at the Chief Minister's Secretariat on September 4, reports The Sangai Express. The surrenderees include six from Progressive faction of People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK-Pro), two from Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), and one each from the PREPAK, Peoples Liberation Army (PLA), United Nation Liberation Front (UNLF) and Lamyanba Khuman faction of Kangleipak Communist party (KCP-Lamyanba Khuman). The weapons handed over included two 9mm pistols with 20 rounds, nine hand-grenades with detonators, two IEDs, one AK-56 rifle with two magazines and an AK-47 rifle with magazine and 221 rounds.

The Sangai Express reports that together with arms and ammunition, five cadres of progressive faction of People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK-Pro) surrendered to the Thoubal Superintendant of Police (SP) on October 19. The five cadres surrendered along with five rifles of AK series, 15 magazines and 375 live rounds, informed a Police source. It is said that a formal surrender ceremony would be held sometime later. Of the five surrendered, four were of ‘Lance Corporal’ rank while the fifth one was a ‘Corporal’. The four ‘Lance Corporals’ have been identified as Ibomcha , Athoi Maring, Ishwar-chandra and Ushorjit. The ‘Corporal’ is identified as Santosh Kshetri.
