14 more persons were reportedly killed and at least 58 others sustained injuries in separate incidents of terrorist violence in the State of Assam for the second consecutive day on October 3. The Inspector General of Police (Special Branch), Khagen Sharma, said that suspected terrorists of the outlawed National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) triggered a powerful bomb blast targeting a weekly market at Dhekiajuli in the Darrang district killing one person and injuring 36 more. Three persons were killed and 10 sustained injuries during a bomb blast in the crowded market at Gouripur in Dhubri district, according to the police. Unofficial sources, however, claimed that five persons were killed. In another blast at a fish market at Bijni in the Chirang district, one person died and eight were wounded. NDFB terrorists also triggered a bomb blast at Gossaigaon in the Kokrajhar district, in which one person was killed and two were injured.

Five United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) terrorists were killed in an encounter with army and police commandos at Kasojuli village under Laluk police station limits in the Lakhimpur district on October 29. A large quantity of arms and ammunition including one SLR with 156 rounds of ammunition, three magazines, a US made carbine, one TNT, 36 grenades, IED explosives, two coils of wires, 100 detonators, wireless sets and a sum of Rupees 14,881 in cash were recovered from their possession. According to the state Director General of Police, P.V. Samant, all the slain terrorists belonged to the ULFA's 'Action Group'. One of the slain terrorists, Pintu Bora alias Rajani is suspected to have been involved in the August 15 Independence Day bomb blast in Dhemaji.

Suspected terrorists belonging to the Biswamohan Debbarma faction of the outlawed National Liberation of Tripura (NLFT) are reported to have killed at least 16 Territorial Army personnel and wounded three others during an ambush at Agumabari in the South Tripura district on December 28. The incident occurred when the Army personnel, moving in two vehicles from Kouyamura to Dangabari, were attacked by a 50-member NLFT squad with grenades and indiscriminate firing. They also later looted 15 AK-series rifles and one light machine gun from the slain soldiers. As the terrorists were escaping, one of the injured soldiers reportedly opened retaliated fire killing at least one terrorist.
