Three police personnel also injured in the attack, according to Indo-Asian News Service. District Police Chief A. N. Sinha informed that police fired several rounds at the Maoists in retaliation. A day after foiling a Maoist attack in Dantewada, security forces (SFs) on December 5-morning shot dead two Maoists and injured another near Basin village in the Bastar district, according to Telegraph. Inspector General of Police (Bastar), R.K. Vij, said the bodies of the slain Maoists had been recovered. Around 9 am, an unspecified number of Maoists attacked a joint patrol party of the Central Reserve Police Force and new recruits of the Jungle Warfare School near Basin, around 300 km south of the State capital Raipur. The SFs retaliated and the ensuing shootout reportedly lasted over two hours before the Maoists fled into the forests. Subsequently, during a search operation, the bodies of the two Maoists were found.
