On January 18, four Security Force (SF) personnel were killed when terrorists from across the Pakistan-Iran border targeted a SF convoy patrolling along the Chukab sector area of Panjgur District in Balochistan, reports Dawn. “Today, in a terrorist activity from across Pakistan-Iran border in Chukab sector, district Panjgur, Balochistan, four security forces personnel have embraced martyrdom,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement said. It further said that the militants used Iranian soil to “target a convoy of security forces patrolling along the border”. Iran has been asked to hunt down the terrorists on their side, the ISPR statement added.

The Policemen, who belonged to the Eagle Squad, were patrolling on a motorcycle when the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire, leaving three injured. One of the terrorists was killed while the other managed to escape as Policemen returned fire. Two Policemen, identified as constables Abdul Jabbar and Jalaat Khan, later succumbed to their injuries.

Four people - including two Police personnel were killed and 22 other people sustained injuries in two separate blasts in Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, on April 10, reports Dawn. Both the attacks were targeting the Police. The first blast occurred near a Police vehicle parked next to Qandahari Bazaar on Shahrah-i-Iqbal, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Captain (retd) Zohaib Mohsin, who also confirmed the deaths of the two police officers in the attack. “The explosives were planted in a motorcycle,” he said, adding that the injured also included women and children. Four people were injured in a second attack targeting the Sariab Station House Officer (SHO) Ehsanullah Marwat’s vehicle was targeted at Munir Mengal Road near Sariab Phatak of Quetta on April 10, reports Dawn. SSP Zohaib Mohsin said that the SHO and other Police personnel with him were inspecting officers stationed at Munir Mengal Road on their duties and were not present in the vehicle during the time of the blast. Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for both the attacks, reports The Balochistan Post. Jeeyand Baloch, the spokesperson for BLA, said in the media statement that the vehicle of the Superintendent of Police (SP) was targeted in an IED explosion. He further added that the insurgent groups had repeatedly warned the police to refrain from being a puppet to Pakistani security forces, but they still actively participate in activities against the Baloch national cause. Baloch accused the targeted SP of detaining innocent people on baseless charges and torturing them in custody.

Zarghoonabad Station House Officer (SHO) Asif Marwat confirmed the casualties of two Policemen who were identified as Constables Shaukat Ali and Syed Muhammad.
