Two civilians and two Frontier Corps (FC) persons were killed, while 58 others, including 11 FC personnel, two children and a woman, were injured when a car bomb exploded as a FC convoy passed by in the Almo Chowk area of Quetta on May 14, reported Dawn. Saddar Superintendent of Police (SP) Chaudhry Mohammad Arshad said that the FC convoy, coming to Quetta from the Ghazaband area, was targeted. Sarbaz Baloch, who introduced himself as a spokesman for the Balochistan Republican Army (BRA), claimed responsibility for the attack and said such attacks would continue in future.

In January, 14 Hazara people were killed in various attacks. Three members of the community were killed in March and about 20 in April. In May, six Hazaras were shot dead in different attacks. During the current month, at least 18 Hazaras have been killed in two suicide car bomb attacks. On June 18, a suicide bomber driving an explosives-laden car hit in Jinnah Town a bus carrying students belonging to the community from Marriabad area of Quetta to a university.
