Two soldiers were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBOs) in Kot Kili village of South Waziristan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on January 5, reports Dawn. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was carried out by Security Forces (SFs) following reports of terrorists' presence in the area. The dead soldiers were identified as sepoy Faridullah (31), a resident of Karak District and sepoy Shuaib Hassan (29), a resident of Dera Ismail Khan District.

At least five soldiers were killed after terrorists launched a cross-border attack from Afghanistan on the Army troops stationed in Kurram District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on February 6, reports Dawn. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that the Pakistani troops responded befittingly to the attack, adding that as per “intelligence reports” the “terrorists suffered heavy causalities”. The five soldiers that were killed during the exchange of fire included 34-year-old Lance Naik Ajab Noor (resident of Karachi, Sindh), 22-year-old Sepoy Ziaullah Khan (resident of Lakki Marwat, KP), 23-year-old Sepoy Naheed Iqbal (resident of Karak, KP), 18-year-old Sepoy Sameerullah Khan (resident of Bannu, KP) and 27-year-old Sepoy Sajid Ali (resident of Bahawalnagar, Punjab). The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack.

Five terrorists and one soldier were during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted by the Security Forces in North Waziristan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on February 20, reports Geo News. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said SFs had launched the operation after receiving reports related to the presence of terrorists in the area. During the operation, the SFs and the terrorist got involved in an “intense exchange of fire” that led to the killing of the terrorist. Four out of the five terrorists were identified as Habib Nawaz, Waheed Ullah, Abdur Rehman, and Muhammad Ullah. Meanwhile, the identification of the fifth terrorist is in progress, said the ISPR. The killed soldier was identified as 28-year-old Sepoy Shabbir Ahmed, a resident of Quetta (Balochistan). “Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the hideout of the killed terrorists which include submachine guns, hand grenades and a large number of multiple calibre rounds,” the statement added. The slain terrorists were involved in terrorist activities against SFs, target killing, and kidnapping for ransom, statement added further.

Nine persons including two soldiers, three civilians and four terrorists were killed during a terrorist attack in Bajaur District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reports The Express Tribune. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorists fired on security forces in Bloro area of the District which initiated a response from the security forces. "Resultantly, four terrorists were killed. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists," it added. The statement added that during the intense exchange of fire, Naib Subedar Ishtiaq, a 44-year-old resident of Nowshera and Sepoy Kamran, a 21-year-old resident of Orakzai, embraced martyrdom after having fought gallantly. The statement further said that due to terrorists’ fire three innocent civilians – Asmat, Ilham and Bahadur – also embraced martyrdom.

Four soldiers were killed in Hassan Khel area of North Waziristan District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during an exchange of fire with terrorists who attempted to infiltrate into Pakistan from Afghanistan in the night between March 23 and March 24, reports Dawn. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a group of terrorists tried to infiltrate into Pakistan at midnight, but their attempt was foiled due to the alertness and timely response of army troops. The terrorists, however, retaliated by opening fire, the statement said, adding that the soldiers reciprocated in a befitting manner. The killed soldiers have been identified as Lance Havaldar Wajahat Alam (34), Sepoy Sajjid lnayat (25), Sepoy Maqbool Hayat (32) and Sepoy Sajjid Ali (22).

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on March 30 said that six soldiers were martyred after security forces foiled three terrorists attempt to enter a military compound in the Tank area of Dera Ismail Khan District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reports The News. In a statement, the ISPR said the security forces, during the encounter, responded in an efficient manner, encircled and killed the three terrorists — thereby foiling the attempt to enter the military compound. The military's media wing identified the martyred soldiers as: Subedar Major Sher Muhammad (48), Naib Subedar Zubaid (39), Havildar Sohail (39), Lance Naik Ghulam All (36), Sepoy Maskeen Ali (32) and Sepoy Mir Muhammad (37).

According to a statement issued by the ISPR, terrorists opened fire on Pakistani troops from across the Afghan border and the latter "responded in a befitting manner". "As per credible intelligence reports, due to fire of own troops, terrorists suffered heavy casualties," the ISPR said, adding that three soldiers embraced martyrdom after fighting gallantly.
