On October 14, Assam Rifles (AR) foiled an attempt by militants to stage an attack by detecting and destroying an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Chakpikarong sub-division of Chandel District in Manipur, reports E Pao. Following an observation of some suspicious wires protruding out of ground at a road junction, immediate search operation were carried out that led to the detection of an IED.
Similarly on the same day, another IED was detected near the 33 AR post in Hengbung in Kangpokpi District. The IED fitted in a tiffin case along with a hand grenade was recovered and later on detonated safely.
War like stores to include one hand grenade with detonator, IED weighing three kgs, assorted ammunition and a wireless set were recovered on the same day from Khuman village in Senapati District.
