An Assistant Professor from Kulgam District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), presently posted in the Government Degree College for Women in Udhampur, was arrested on March 7, by the Police for his involvement in four FIRs, three registered at Kulgam and one at Qoimoh Police Station, for radicalization of the local youth, reports Daily Excelsior. The Assistant Professor identified as Dr Abdul Bari Naik alias Shabir Naik alias doctor, a PhD degree holder, was arrested by Kulgam Police from Udhampur with the help of local Police from a house where he was putting up in rented accommodation. Sources said Dr Abdul Bari Naik had radicalized number of youths in South Kashmir.
Security Forces (SFs) launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Shopian District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on March 7, reports Daily Excelsior. Similarly, CASO was also conducted in the Shopian District at three villages on March 6. Following a tip-off about the presence of militants, troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) launched a joint CASO at village Keegam and Reshipora in Shopian. Later, SFs launched house-to-house searches, they said adding so far, no contact was established with the militants.
