Border Security Force (BSF) on May 22 foiled an attempt of smuggling from Pakistan side to push contraband and arms and ammunition into the Indian Territory by recovering 1.900 kilograms heroin, 800-gram opium besides arms and ammunition from India-Pakistan borderin Amritsar District, reports United News of India. A spokesperson of the Punjab Frontier's BSF Head Quarter stated that the BSF troops in the area of responsibility of 116 Battalion in the Amritsar sector observed suspicious movement of some mischievous persons and challenged them following which they fled towards the Pakistani Territory leaving behind the contraband and the arms.
Separately, BSF recovered 1.9 kg heroin and 280-gram opium besides arms and ammunition from the India-Pakistan border at the Ferozepur sector in Ferozepur District of Punjab on May 22, reports United News of India. A spokesperson of the Punjab Frontier's BSF Head Quarter said that the alert BSF troops in the area of responsibility of 116 Battalion in the Ferozepur sector observed suspicious movement of some mischievous persons and challenged them following which they fled towards the Pakistani Territory. During a search of the area, the troops recovered two plastic bottles filled with the aforementioned contraband. The troops also recovered one pistol of 9mm caliber, one magazine, and five live cartridges.
