The Border Security Force (BSF) recovered 10 packets of heroin weighing 5.180 kilogram, worth INR 260 million near International Border (IB) outpost in Gatti Masta sector in Firozpur District of Punjab on December 30, reports The Tribune. As per sources, personnel of BSF’s 29 Battalion noticed movement of some (Pakistani) suspects near the barbed wire fencing along the zero line early hours in the day. Following which, the troops challenged the Pakistan smugglers and opened fire, but they managed to escape taking advantage of dense fog and undulating ground. On search, 10 packets containing heroin were recovered from the scene.
