The Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres shot dead a civilian identified as, Sonu Tekam (30) on suspicion of being a ‘Police informer’ in Pujari Tola area in Balaghat District of Madhya Pradesh on June 8, reports The Times of India. As per the report, Sonu was working at a construction site in Hyderabad for the last three years and had returned to his home in the said area following the lockdown amid COVID-19 pandemic. The Maoists left a handwritten note near his body claiming that anyone who turns out to be a ‘Police informer’ would receive similar punishment. Some Naxalite [Left Wing Extremist, LWE] literature was also found in his pocket.
