A personnel of Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) battalion-elite unit of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), was killed after sustaining critical injuries after Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres opened indiscriminate fire upon the newly established security camp in the forest area in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh on November 29, reports The Times of India. Bastar range, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sundarraj P., said, “Maoists on Tuesday evening between 4.30 and 5pm, opened fire upon the security personnel deployed on operation duty outside the newly set up camp near Dubbakonta and Pentapad forests in Chintagufa region of Sukma district. The security forces retaliated the attack and Maoists fled deep into the jungles.” A head constable of CoBRA battalion Suleiman, who was a native of Palakkad in Kerala, had sustained severe bullet injuries and had to be rushed to field hospital of CRPF in Chintagufa, but he succumbed to injuries during treatment, Sundarraj added.
A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel sustained injuries during an anti-Naxalite [Left Wing Extremism, LWE] operation when a pressure Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) blew off in forests under Usoor region in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on November 29, reports The Times of India. A constable Dipak Paswan sustained minor injuries on his legs and his condition is stated to be stable.
A 34-year-old man was arrested for allegedly supplying goods to the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) from a forest in Markanar village in Kanker District of Chhattisgarh on November 25, reports latestly.com. The accused supplier was identified as Suresh Kumar Sahu, a resident of Koyalibeda area of the district. The Police also recovered Maoist pamphlets and materials used in triggering explosions, including wires and detonators, from the accused. During interrogation, the suspect told the Police that he worked for the Naxals as a member of the supply team of the CPI-Maoist and used to put up banners and posters for them.
