The Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) has announced Jharkhand bandh (general shut down) on 22 January 22, in protest against the arrest of Krishna Hansda alias Saurabh, a ‘regional committee member, (RCM)’ of the Maoist organization and carrying a reward of INR 1.5 million, reports lagatar.in on January 18. The bandh has been announced by the ‘spokesman’ of CPI-Maoist Jharkhand Regional Committee, Azad by issuing a press statement saying that on January 13, CPI-Maoist Jharkhand RCM cum North Chhotanagpur Zonal Committee ‘secretary’ Krishna Hansda was arrested by the Police and paramilitary forces from Fatehpur village of Dumri along with another accomplice, Renuka Murmu, who was arrested from Chaparia village under Jasidih Police Station area of Deoghar. Both of them are being harassed in the name of questioning to know the secrecy of the party. It has been said in the release that hospital, ambulance, milk, water, newspapers, medical services will be kept free from the bandh.
