Four Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres identified as Boti alias Bheema Vetti (29), ‘militia commander’ carrying a reward of INR 1, 00,000 on his head, Dhurwa Kunjam (28), who is a ‘deputy militia commander’ and militia members Somdu Tamo (27) and Budhram alias Guddu Tamo (23) have surrendered before the Police in Dantewada District of Chhattisgarh on June 7, reports Outlook India. All the four surrendered CPI-Maoist cadres were active in Malangir area of Dantewada District. They were impressed with the Police’s ‘Lon Varratu’ rehabilitation scheme for those coming back to the mainstream from the CPI-Maoist. So far, 363 Naxals[Left Wing Extremism (LWE)], including 96 carrying rewards on their heads, have surrendered in Dantewada District under the campaign Lon Varratu.CPI-Maoist was observing ‘Jan Pituri Week’ in memory of slain cadre, due to which vigil by Security Forces (SFs) had been increased in Bastar region, comprising Dantewada, Bijapur, Bastar, Narayanpur, Kondagaon, Sukma and Kanker Districts, said Dantewada Superintendent of Police (SP), Abhishek Pallava.
Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans recovered a pipe bomb, weighed around ten kilograms, planted by CPI-Maoist cadreson the Chintagufa-Bheji road in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh on June 7, reports India Today. The bomb was immediately defused by 150th Battalion of CRPF.
