The Islami Andolan Bangladesh on October 23 demanded enacting a blasphemy law in the country to ensure that none could hurt religious sentiments of others and demean religions to avoid any further sectarian violence, reports New Age. Islami Andolan Bangladesh amir (chief) Syed Mohammad Rezaul Karim spoke in a press conference at the party central office at Paltan in Dhaka city. He condemned the attacks on Hindus as well as the police firing that killed agitating people who took to streets to protest ‘demeaning of their religion’. Bangladesh does not have a blasphemy law and, therefore, people from all the religions here feel helpless when their religions are dishonoured, he said.
