The Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres killed a civilian, identified as Uika Hunga (22), after branding him as ‘Police informer’ at a place between Misiguda and Kunded villages under Jagargunda Police Station limits in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh on September 22, reports The Pioneer. The Maoists had abducted Hunga earlier on September 14, his dead body was found by the local villagers who later informed the Police. The Inspector General of Police (IGP, Bastar range) Sundarraj Patilingam said, a handwritten Maoist leaflet found at the spot accused Hunga of being a ‘Police informer’ and stated that the ‘Jagargunda area committee’ of the rebels took responsibility for the killing.
In a separate incident, a trooper of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) was injured while defusing an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) recovered at a Maoist camp neutralized by the Security Forces (SFs) in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on September 23, reports News18. A joint patrolling team of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and DRG neutralized the said camp in a forested area between Mariwada and Gongla villages under Gangaloor Police Station limits in the District. The IGP Sundarraj said, on sensing the presence of the patrolling team, Maoists managed to escape into the dense forest abandoning their camp. Maoist uniforms, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), IED switches, torch, iron pellets, Maoist literature, tents, bags, medicines and materials of daily use were recovered from the camp.
