The Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres set ablaze six vehicles and machines engaged in road construction work at Dhanikorta village under Kukanar Police Station limits in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh on June 24, reports The Pioneer. The Sukma Superintendent of Police (SP), Shalabh Sinha said, a group of Maoists reached the said village and set ablaze three trucks, two JCBs and a poclain machine parked there. All the vehicles and machines belonged to a contractor, the SP said adding that a search operation has been launched in the area.
Meanwhile, a Maoist couple identified as - Raje Hemla alias Vanoja (23) and her husband Manglu Veka (26) carrying a cash reward of INR 200,000 each on their heads surrendered before Police in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on June 25, reports The Pioneer. The SP, Kamlochan Kashyap said both were members of the Maharashtra-Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh (MMC) zone expansion platoon number 3. Both were part of a Maoist team that ambushed a Police team at Sajapani in Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh in May 2016. In January 2017, they carried out an ambush at Gatapar in Rajnandgaon in which two security personnel were killed, the SP added.
