More than 350 bags of tendu (Diospyros Melonoxylon plant) leaves collected by the tribals were set on fire by the cadres of New Democratic Revolution Zindabad (NDRZ) of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) at the Dadekasa-Bilal Kasa tendu leaves collection centre under the south forest division of the Lanji Tehsil (revenue unit) in Balaghat District of Madhya Pradesh on May 22, reports The Times of India. Maoists left a letter at the site, warning that ‘Police informers’ and supporters would have to meet a similar fate. Maoists also demanded to increase the wages of the tribals. There were eight to 10 Maoist cadres in the incident including women. Earlier, a forest guard was killed by the Maoists, and it is a sudden increase in the Maoist activities in Madhya Pradesh, said the Police.
