Police busted a narco-module and made a recovery of eight kilograms of narcotics substance Heroin worth an estimated market value of INR 500 million and arrested a militant associate identified as Mudasir Ahmad Lone, a resident of Karen Bala from Kupwara District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on May 23, reports Daily Excelsior. Police has identified the other absconding persons involved in the module and efforts are on to arrest them. The module was in close connection with Pakistan-based handlers and was involved in drug trade and assisting financially to active militants of the Valley. The recoveries also exposed the inter-connection between drug dealers and militants.
Security Forces (SFs) recovered a huge quantity of plastic explosives and narcotics near Nichli Jabri village of Tangdhar in Kupwara District of J&K in India on May 23, reports Daily Excelsior. Based on specific information from Police intelligence, a joint operation was launched by the Police and Indian Army in Karnah, Tangdhar, Kupwara on May 22. The joint operation led to recovery of 15 sticks of plastic explosives near Nichli Jabri village of Tangdhar. These explosives were hidden in a Dhok for further transshipment to the hinterland.
SFs recovered a 12-bore rifle and some suspected 50 grams of gunpowder from house of a labourer during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) at Machama area of Tral in Pulwama District of J&K in India on May 23, reports Daily Excelsior. In a joint operation J&K Police with Indian Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 180 Battalion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched at the house of Mohammad Amin Malik, labourer by profession and a former militant. During the search operation, SFs recovered one binocular, one 12 bore rifle (unlicensed), 10 rounds of the rifle and suspected explosive materials (gun powder approximately 50 grams), one kilogram bleaching powder like substance and iron/steal ball bearings (approx. 250-300grams) besides combat pouch and weapon sling from his house. The case is registered and investigation taken up, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar, said.
