The cadres of the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a splinter group of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), allegedly set ablaze three tractors that had gone to fetch illegal sand from Gudri under Podahat subdivision in West Singhbhum District of Jharkhand on June 1, reports The Pioneer. The ultras also assaulted the tractor drivers and drove them away. Due to a lack of sand from Goilkera and Chaibasa, the illegal sand business in West Singhbhum District has been closed for several day however, some sand mafias are secretly doing illegal sand business with tractors from Gudri, said West Singhbhum, Superintendent of Police (SP), Ashutosh Shekhar.
Meanwhile, West Singhbhum District Police arrested one person, identified as Alok Kumar from an area under Angara Police Station of West Singhbhum District, for supplying arms and ammunition to former ‘area commander’, Deo Singh Munda of the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a splinter group of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), on June 2, reports The Times of India. A country-made pistol, three cartridges and a mobile phone have been seized from Kumar’s possession, said Ranchi rural SP, Naushad Alam.
