On December 23, a 27-year-old man, Kishan Kursam, who had been the ‘commander’ of a militia platoon section of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) before surrendering to police in 2023, was killed in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh by a group of Maoists that included his uncle, reports Indian Express. According to police, Kishan Kursam was taking an accident victim from his village to the district headquarters when Maoists blocked the ambulance and abducted him. His body was later found on the side of a road.
