Security Forces (SFs) on February 20 arrested a person with a Pistol with live ammunition in Thathri of Doda District in Jammu and Kashmir, reports Greater Kashmir. Police said a joint check post was established by a team of Rashtriya Rifles based at Thatri, Doda Police and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel at Thatri and during search of vehicles and passengers, SFs noticed a suspicious movement of a person who was trying to evade checking and frisking. “However, the alert soldiers immediately overpowered him and on frisking one Chinese pistol, two magazines and nine rounds of live ammunition was recovered from his possession,” Police said. The arrested person has been identified as Adil Iqbal Butt, son of Muhammed Iqbal Butt, resident of Sazan in Bajarni tehsil in Doda.
Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on February 19 conducted searches at eight locations in six Districts of J&K in connection with militancy conspiracy case, reports Greater Kashmir. As per a NIA spokesman, the raids were carried out in Sopore, Kupwara, Shopian, Rajouri, Budgam, Ganderbal of Jammu and Kashmir besides Jodhpur district of Rajasthan in NIA case RC-29/2021/NIA/DLI. "The case relates to planning and conspiracy for undertaking violent terrorist acts in J&K and other major cities including New Delhi by cadres of proscribed terrorist organisations Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Al Badr and their affiliates such as The Resistance Front (TRF), People Against Fascist Forces (PAFF) etc," the NIA spokesman said adding the NIA has arrested 28 accused persons in the case so far.
