Two militants of Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH), an outfit with links to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), were killed in an operation by Security Forces (SFs) in Shopian District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on April 28-29, reports Daily Excelsior. The first militant was killed on April 28, when an encounter broke out between the militants and the SFs at Melhora in Zainapora area in the District, while the other militant was killed early on April 29 (today) in the same area. On a specific input about the presence of militants in the village, SFs including 55 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) of Army and Shopian Police launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) and had trapped Burhan Koka, the ‘chief commander’ of AGH, and his two associates in Melhora village in the District. The hiding militants fired upon the troops leading to a gun battle in which two militants have been killed in the encounter so far. The intermittent firing was going on and a woman was injured in the gun battle. A soldier was also injured in the gun battle.
