Two civilians and one soldier were killed while one civilian was injured in a suicide attack in Miranshah area of North Waziristan District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on December 19, reports Dawn. A press release from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) identified the soldier as 33-year-old Naik Abid from Mansehra District.
Separately, an inspector of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) was shot dead by unidentified motorcyclists in Mathra area of Peshawar, the provincial capital of KP, on December 19, reports The Express Tribune. The Inspector, identified as Shaukat Mehboob, was attacked by two helmet-wearing assailants on motorcycle while he was returning home from the market on Varsak Road of Peshawar.
Meanwhile, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the December 18 Bannu Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police station hostage incident in which two CTD personnel were killed and many more injured, reports Dawn. Terrorists, who had been arrested previously and being interrogated at CTD Police Station inside cantonment, snatched an AK-47 from Police and opened fire, killing two personnel and taking CTD staff and security officials’ hostage. Meanwhile, the talks between the Government and militants did not result in any breakthrough.
