Two civilians were killed and another was injured in firing outside an Army camp in Rajouri District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on December 16, reports Daily Excelsior. A senior Police official said that the deceased have been identified as Kamal Kumar and Surinder Kumar, both natives of Rajouri’s Falyana area and were working at an Army canteen in the area. Locals said that the two were on their way to work when they heard gunshots in the area. "Two youth were found dead early this morning with bullet marks outside the Alpha Gate of army camp," said the Police. Officials said another person was injured in the firing and he has been admitted to Rajouri district hospital where his condition is believed to be stable. Later, the incident of killing prompted violent protests in the area during which Police resorted to teargas shelling and aerial firing to disperse the protesters.
A joint team of Police and Security Forces (SFs) found an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) along National Highway in Pattan area in Baramulla District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on December 14, reports Brighter Kashmir. “Security forces during the course of patrolling, detected an IED along the Srinagar-Baramulla National highway. Shortly after the detection of the IED, the traffic was halted and the movement of people was restricted. However, Bomb Disposal Squad [BDS] was rushed to the spot,” Police said. “The squad destroyed the IED without causing any harm and traffic was Restored subsequently. The alertness of security forces prevented occurrence of any untoward incident,” it added.
