Two militants of Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) were killed in an encounter between Security Forces (SFs) and militants in Krandigam village in Bijbehara area in Anantnag District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on March 11, reports Daily Excelsior. Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, said that militants turned down repeated surrender offers from the SFs during the operation and opened firing on the troops. In the ensuing gunfight, both the militants were killed. The two militants were identified as Adil Ahmad Bhat, resident of Shithpora in Bijbehara and Zahid Ahmad Rather, resident of Sirhama in Anantnag. Both were affiliated with militant outfit JeM. The IGP said, “As per police records, both the killed militants were involved in several criminal cases including attacks on security forces and civilian atrocities.” Police recovered incriminating materials including arms and ammunition from the site of encounter.
