On April 13, two Kuki militants identified as Kamlengsat Lunkim (25) and Kamminlal Lupheng (23) were killed in clashes between two armed groups at Itham Moirangpurel under Maphou Dam Police station in Imphal East district of Manipur, reports Imphal Free Press and The Sangai Express. The incident happened when well-armed Kuki militants began firing and dropping bombs from Kamu Saichang towards the villages of Tumukhong and Itham Moirangpurel, to which village volunteers based at the villages retaliated. Later the Kuki militants were forced to flee back toward the nearby hills as Meitei village volunteers stood their ground. Soon after the gunfight ceased, a team of Imphal East commandos rushed to the spot and took control of the situation.
