Two Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres including a woman were killed in an exchange of fire with Security Forces (SFs) in the dense forest near Bhandarpal village in Kondagaon District of Chhattisgarh on June 1, reports Free Press Journal. Based on information about the presence of CPI-Maoist cadres belonging to the North Kanker-Mainpur Division Coordination Committee in the jungles of Rajpur, Bhandarpal and Timnar villages along the Kondagaon-Kanker District border, the team of the Chhattisgarh Police's District Reserve Guard (DRG) carried out an anti-Naxal[Left Wing Extremism (LWE)] operation leading to an encounter with CPI-Maoist cadres on June 1. After the encounter was over, the Police team searched the area and found two bodies of CPI-Maoist cadres, including a woman, clad in uniform. Police recovered one Self Loading Rifle (SLR),303 rifle and three 12 bore rifles along with a huge cache of arms and ammunition and other materials from the site. Police believe that few more CPI-Maoist cadres could have been injured in the action and search in a nearby area is underway to arrest the CPI-Maoist cadres, who had escaped from the spot, said Inspector General of Police (IG), (Bastar range) Sundarraj P.
