The Chhipadohar Police arrested Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) ‘area commander’ Thepa Singh alias Sanjay Singh Kherwar from Kheerkhand area of Bishnubandh village under Manika Police Station area in Latehar District of Jharkhand on April 17, and sent him to jail, reports bhaskar.com. Kherwar, a resident of Manika in Latehar District, had joined the Maoist organization in the year 2016. According to Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Dilu Lohra, two cases of Maoist attacks were registered against Kherwar in Chipadohar Police Station, three in Garu Police Station, and one case in Balumath Police Station. Acting on information that Kherwar had come to his village, Chhipadohar Police laid siege and arrested him.
Police arrested a Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre, identified as Hari Yadav, who is an aide of ‘zonal commander’ Nitish alias Sanjay Godram, from his house in Kalapahad village under Chhatarpur Police Station area in Palamu District of Jharkhand on April 17, reports bhaskar.com. Following information that Yadav is threatening people to support the Maoists against the Police encounter in Lavalong Forest area in Chatra District, and make the bandh (general shut down strike) call given by CPI-Maoist a success. He was also collecting ‘levy’ (extortion money) from the nearby crusher and brick kiln owners by threatening to kill them. In the light of this information, the Police team arrested Yadav. Police recovered Naxalite [Left Wing Extremist, LWE] pamphlets and a mobile phone given by the ‘zonal commander’ from Yadav.
