The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested two terrorists of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), ‘commander’ Azeem Jan and Muhammad Anwar, in Mansehra District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on April 19, reports Daily Times. The arrested TTP terrorists were shifted to undisclosed location for further investigation and according to CTD sources important revelations and more arrests were expected.
Authorities claimed that Azeem had reportedly served as the outfit’s key member in Karachi (Sindh), Swat (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) and Shangla (Punjab), reports Express Tribune. Reports further suggested that Azeem is a prime accused in various terror attacks including the killing of SSP Chaudhry Aslam, 2002 assassination of American-Israeli journalist Daniel Pearl and the assassination of Maulana Izharul Haq Jhangvi. The suspect is also accused of involvement in the 2011 PNS Mehran attack, blast on the shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi and an attack on a check-post in Quetta’s Hazar Ganji area that killed at least 140 people.
