Four cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), include a woman cadre, were arrested during a Police raid conducted in around 200 kilometres from State capital Ranchi in Chatarpur area in Palamu District of Jharkhand on October 22, reports The Print. Palamu Superintendent of Police (SP), Chandan Kumar Sinha said, “We had arrested self-styled sub-zonal commander of CPI (Maoist), Ram Prasad Yadav, two days back. Based on his inputs, four other Maoists were nabbed during the day.” The arrested cadres are identified as Krishna Yadav, Pariksha Yadav, lady Lalu Devi, and Ramyad Yadav. During the arrest, INR 45,000 cash, two mobiles, Splendor motorcycle have also been recovered from the Maoists, adds prabhatkhabar.com. Earlier, South Asia Terrorism Portal (SATP) had reported that a ‘sub-zonal commander’ of the CPI-Maoist, identified as Ram Prasad Yadav alias Prasad Ji, was arrested from his village Bagiya under Chatarpur Police Station limits in Palamu District on October 20.
In another incident, the ‘area commander’ of the People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a splinter group of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), Rajesh Gop has demanded a ‘levy’ (extortion money) of INR 20 million from Pawan Singh, owner of flour and Maggi factory located at Tupudana in Hatia-Tupudana Police Station limits in Ranchi District of Jharkhand, reports prabhatkhabar.com on October 17. In this regard, factory owner Pawan Singh filed a written complaint to the senior Police officers besides Tupudana Police and has requested for the safety of life and property. It is being told that on October 15, a poster was pasted on behalf of the militant organization PLFI outside the flour and Maggi factory located in Tupudana, in which it was written that INR 20 million will have to be paid for doing business. There was a threat of military action for doing business without paying ‘levy’ money.
