On April 1, acting on the information provided by an arrested Kuki National Front (KNF) cadre, the police recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition belonging to the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) and KNF from Khongsai Veng under Porompat police station in the Imphal East district. The cache included 74 electronic detonators, 75 ordinary detonators, a .38 pistol with one magazine, and 16 rounds of .38 ammunition, two 30 mm anti-aircraft shells, 169 rounds of .303 rifles, communication devices, nametags and badges of the outfits. Three terrorists of the UNLF and KNF were also arrested subsequent to the recovery.

According to official sources, all the three persons were parents of PREPAK cadres who had surrendered on April 23. Claiming responsibility for the attacks, a PREPAK spokesperson told local media that the action was necessary to warn those cadres who wanted to surrender and disclose party secrets to the Government.
