Quoting a statement issued by the UNLF, media reports of June 12 said that the truce was reached during a meeting of the leaders of both the outfits held on June 8 at an undisclosed place in Manipur. Reports further said that both the outfits have agreed not to strike at each other and both sides would work towards resettling villagers displaced as a result of their conflict. In a similar development, the two warring factions of the Kuki National Front (KNF) are also reported to have agreed to bury their differences. The KNF ‘information and broadcasting secretary’, Gideon Kuki reportedly issued a statement saying that the decision was taken during a secret meeting between the leaders of both KNF factions recently in Manipur.
