The ruling party—Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) claimed that it is not intimidated by the appointment of opposition’s Presidential candidate—Ibrahim Mohamed Solih aka Ibu, and that President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom will surely win the upcoming Presidential election with majority of votes, reports Maldives Times on July 3. Nasheed’s name changed to Ibu’s. Nothing else changed. First of all, he said he will establish an interim government for one-and-a-half years. The people don’t want a government for a one-and-a-half year, two years, or five months. The people want to prosper and move forward, said Deputy Leader of PPM and Member of Parliament from Fonadhoo Abdul Raheem Abdulla (Adhurey).

The advisory board members of the Fatwa Majlis were hand-picked by the President Yameen Abdul Gayoom after taking suggestions from the Islamic minister, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Maldives, the Maldives National University and the Islamic University of Maldives post careful consideration.
