Clarifying about the news reports claiming that a NATO aircraft "violated" Pakistan’s airspace in the Burqi and Kharlaci areas of Khurram Agency of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) on November 2, the United States Embassy in Islamabad on November 3 said that the accusation is entirely false, reports Daily Times. No NATO aircraft violated the Pakistani airspace in the areas of Burqi and Kharlaci as alleged in reports, said a press release issued by the embassy. Pakistan’s Air Defence Command confirmed the information, the statement said and added that coalition and US air operations in Afghanistan conducted along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border region are closely coordinated with Pakistan’s Air Force. We refer all questions concerning the integrity of the Pakistani airspace to the Pakistan Air Force, the press release added. Meanwhile, the Pakistani Senate expressed serious concern over the violation of Pakistani airspace by NATO forces. Legislators from Jamaat-e-Islami and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) staged a walkout from the Senate session in protest and strongly condemned the airspace violations by NATO forces. Talking on a point of order, the leader of the Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Reforms (PCCR) Senator Raza Rabbani demanded from the House to summon NATO diplomats in the Foreign Office at the earliest, otherwise Pakistan reserved the right of other options, including military retaliation. He said no agreement existed between NATO and Pakistani forces regarding military retaliation in Pakistan’s bordering areas as well as violation of the country’s airspace by NATO forces.

Daily Times report on November 19 confirmed that Siraj Haqqani, the ‘operational commander’ of the Haqqani Network, who had earlier been moved from Miranshah in North Waziristan to Kurram Agency, has been moved further to a secure “safe house” outside Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). The decision was taken after the September 27 NATO incursions near the village of Mata Sanger, which left two Pakistani Frontier Corps soldiers dead. “Apparently, Siraj Haqqani was pretty close at a safe-house when the NATO incursion at Kurram took place,” confirmed an unnamed high ranking Western diplomat. Siraj Haqqani was earlier moved to Kurram Agency from Miranshah in North Waziristan after his brother, Mohammed Haqqani, and his first cousin ‘military commander’, Saifullah Haqqani, were killed in US drone attack on February 19, 2010 and September 15, 2010 respectively.
